The Easy One-Pan Camping Dinner that Made Clean-Up a Breeze
Camping dinners don’t have to be bland or boring — especially when you’re cooking with an RV kitchen, campfire, or portable grill.
I’ve made these meals myself in tiny camper kitchens and by the firepit.
They’re fast, filling, and guaranteed to bring smiles after a long day outdoors.
🔥 1. Sausage, Potato & Veggie Hash (One-Pan Wonder)

This is my go-to when I don’t want to think too hard.
Ingredients:
- Smoked sausage, sliced
- Baby potatoes, halved
- Bell peppers (red/yellow), chopped
- Onion, chopped
- Olive oil, garlic powder, salt, pepper
How to make it:
Toss everything into a large skillet with olive oil and seasoning. Cook on medium-high until potatoes are soft and crispy. That’s it. Seriously. Add a sprinkle of shredded cheese on top if you’re feeling fancy.
Pro tip: Pre-chop the veggies at home and store in a bag — it cuts prep time to almost nothing.
🧀 2. Campfire Nacho Packs

Nachos, but better — and less mess.
Ingredients:
- Tortilla chips
- Canned black beans
- Shredded cheese
- Jalapeños, onions, olives, or whatever toppings you like
- Foil
How to make it:
Layer chips, beans, cheese, and toppings on a piece of foil. Fold into a packet and heat over the fire or grill until cheese melts. Open carefully — it’s steamy!
Bonus: Add precooked ground beef or shredded chicken for a protein boost.
🥫 3. Lazy Campfire Chili

I make this almost every trip. It’s easy and feeds a crowd.
Ingredients:
- 1 lb ground beef or turkey
- 1 can black beans
- 1 can red kidney beans
- 1 can diced tomatoes
- Chili powder, garlic, cumin, salt
How to make it:
Brown the meat in a pot or deep skillet. Dump everything else in and let it simmer. Add water if it gets too thick. Serve with cornbread or tortilla chips if you have ’em.
🍕 4. Dutch Oven Campfire Pizza

Who says you can’t have pizza in the wild?
Ingredients:
- Pre-made pizza dough or biscuit dough
- Pizza sauce
- Mozzarella cheese
- Pepperoni or veggies
How to make it:
Line your Dutch oven with parchment or foil. Press dough into the bottom. Add sauce, cheese, toppings. Cover and bake with coals on top and bottom until dough is cooked and cheese is bubbly.
Pro tip: Use naan or pita bread as a crust if you’re short on time.
🌮 5. Walking Tacos

This one’s a hit with kids and adults. No plates needed!
Ingredients:
- Individual chip bags (Fritos or Doritos)
- Taco meat (ground beef + taco seasoning)
- Lettuce, tomato, cheese, sour cream
How to make it:
Open chip bag, spoon in hot taco meat and toppings. Shake it up. Eat with a fork straight from the bag.
🍳 6. Campfire Breakfast-for-Dinner Sandwiches

Sometimes you just want eggs and bacon. And that’s okay.
Ingredients:
- English muffins or sandwich buns
- Eggs
- Pre-cooked bacon or sausage
- Cheese slices
How to make it:
Fry your eggs and meat. Toast the buns on a skillet or grill. Stack everything together. Boom: breakfast for dinner.
🌯 7. BBQ Chicken Skillet Tacos

These take about 10 minutes and feel like you did way more work than you did.
Ingredients:
- Shredded rotisserie chicken
- BBQ sauce
- Tortillas
- Shredded cheddar
- Green onions
How to make it:
Warm chicken with BBQ sauce in a pan. Pile into tortillas, top with cheese and onions. Serve with coleslaw or chips.
🥘 8. Foil-Pack Gyro Wraps

A fun twist when you’re tired of burgers.
Ingredients:
- Pre-cooked meat (chicken or lamb slices)
- Pita bread
- Tzatziki sauce
- Sliced cucumber, tomato, red onion
- Foil
How to make it:
Wrap pita, meat, and veggies in foil and heat on grill or fire for 5–10 minutes. Unwrap and add tzatziki.
RV tip: Use store-bought gyro meat or cooked chicken strips to make this fast.
🧄 9. Dutch Oven Mac & Cheese

This one wins every single time.
Ingredients:
- Elbow macaroni
- Milk
- Butter
- Shredded cheddar
- Garlic powder, salt, pepper
How to make it:
Boil pasta (or cook ahead). In Dutch oven, melt butter, add milk and cheese until smooth. Mix in cooked pasta and seasonings. Let it get golden on the edges — it’s the best part.
🥦 10. Campfire Ratatouille Foil Packets (Vegetarian!)

Sounds fancy. Isn’t.
Ingredients:
- Zucchini, eggplant, bell pepper, onion, tomato
- Olive oil, garlic, oregano, salt
- Foil
How to make it:
Toss chopped veggies with oil and seasonings. Wrap in foil and grill over fire until tender (20–25 mins). Top with Parmesan or goat cheese.
🍗 11. Teriyaki Chicken & Rice Bowls

This one works great on a portable burner or RV stove.
Ingredients:
- Chicken breast or thighs, cubed
- Teriyaki sauce
- Cooked rice
- Frozen stir-fry veggies
How to make it:
Sauté chicken, add veggies, stir in teriyaki sauce. Cook until everything’s hot. Serve over rice.
Pro tip: Make a big batch of rice before your trip and store it in zip bags.
🥩 12. Make-Ahead Marinated Steak & Veggies

This is for when you want to impress people… with almost no effort.
Ingredients:
- Steak (sirloin or flank)
- Bell peppers, onions, zucchini
- Marinade: olive oil, balsamic vinegar, garlic, rosemary, salt
How to make it:
Marinate steak and veggies in a big bag (do this at home). Grill when ready. Slice and serve with rice or potatoes.
🧺 Pro Tips for Easier Camp Dinners
- Pre-chop and bag everything at home
- Double foil: Prevents leaks, especially with saucy meals
- Use one skillet or Dutch oven for most meals
- Stock your camper pantry: Olive oil, salt, pepper, garlic powder, hot sauce, etc.
- Plan meals by protein: Chicken night, beef night, veggie night — keeps things simple
- Don’t forget dessert: S’mores dip in foil or campfire bananas with chocolate!
